I am finally totally resettled and getting back into a routine. I've got a large ( 16 by 20, three figure) painting commission I'm hacking away at. I did the sketch digitally before I knew they wanted a size larger than my printer would allow, so I had to chop up the paper and cobble it back together once I'd printed. You can see in the second scan how I've continued to sand down the joint to make it entirely flush.
Interestingly, the tape I used is coming through, which has given me the idea of intentionally layering something under a painting and then sanding through to form a kind of ghost of whatever is resting underneath. I really like working with the material-ness of whatever is at hand. I like that paint is paint!
