What if she's just finished dealing with Merry's shit and Toff comes up to her (maybe because of Merry's shit?) and she's in a nasty place and tells him that she doesn't have time for his *feelings*, isn't it enough that Toffee ruined everything? Isn't it enough that it was Toffee's friend - that Toffee (mistakenly) introduced to Merry? Isn't it enough that she has had to hold things together for so long...but they fell apart anyway? Isn't it enough to have been the church's first Lady, struggling with the trials and tribulations - rebellious children, a difficult husband, a stressful position - given to her by the Good Master, and to have...failed?
