I just love how you manage to create feather textures that are close to reality while making them stand out because theyβre simple in shape. Your art is just so awesome! π€

2020-10-28 04:12:55 +0000 UTCThatβs funny, the first thing that caught my eye was the lovely watercolor flow in the necks. π I think Iβve gotten better at it lately but I used to really go for it with watercolor and ink then spend tons of time trying to make the mistakes look intentional, which taught me a great deal about patterning and βhappy accidentsβ but I had a college professor who saw right through it and told me one of the more important skills for an artist is knowing when to stop. Edit edit edit, heβd say. Youβve mentioned something getting away from you before but Iβve never noticed it, youβve got a good editorβs eye.

It was a standard case of me putting too much detail into their necks, which sort of snow-balled out of control. I had to make the background darkerβespecially at the bottom of the image-to make the necks look lighter. I was kicking myself, knowing I should've left the necks almost white, but I improvised to 'fix' the mistake and I'm ultimately happy with the end result.
