2024-07-15 22:19:01 +0000 UTCThat circular saw is screaming to be saved for use with an abrasive wheel or a diamond blade in concrete. perfect place to not use your good saw. I just bagged an ld50 loader (JD 3.164 diesel engine and sunstrand 22-2069 hydrostatic) after searching for a long time for a descent compact bucket tractor. Its old, its ugly, but it runs and drives and this video tells me I made the right decision!

PS, Eric O posted a video recently where he drilled a small hole into a rusty screw and hammered a splined bit into it to remove it. I'm sure you know this trick but it was a novel solution for me.

2024-07-15 15:43:43 +0000 UTCHi Wes, and thanks for the show! I hate rust and mice. Found I could drive off the rodents by using a cloth bag filled with paradichlorobenzene (not naptha) moth balls. Lasts about 6 mos depending on weather. Nice saw. I bought mine around 1978 or 79. Built three houses and two decks with it. Still runs great. Made by Diehl in NJ. Grease the bearings every 5 years or so. Also have the matching 1/2" corded drill. Craftsman used to have some good tools, priced right.

2024-07-15 15:34:03 +0000 UTCI love the "get my punch unstuck" game. Punch rmeoves pin but now punch is stuck. Use smaller punch to remove punch now that one is stuck. How many sizes down and how many blankety blank words must be used before punch is free? LOL

2024-07-15 15:14:02 +0000 UTCI'm sure you know; the JIS head screws they use in Japan, and often in China, is almost, but not quite, the same as the Phillips screws in the US. Using a Phillips driver on a JIS screw seems to work, but the risk of stripping the head is real. Been there, done that etc etc.

One year the black flies were so bad (probably due to a really hot summer), that most the attendees were just covered with itchy welts. Fortunately it was really bad only that one year, but I still experience some light weight PTSD from the experience. Hope they disappear soon. My wife bought me the earlier 2 HP version of that saw back in the early 1980s. Still have/use it to this day. Planned on replacing it with a Skilsaw when it died, but it never did.

They actually ate right through the plastic fresh air box. This from a car that is inside a rodent free garage 90% of the time. I have hosed it down with mint oil, no idea if that will help deter them. F’ing rodents!
