Wes, you could post absolutely no content on this platform and I‘d still be supporting you! I‘ve been watching your channel for years and always felt like „I should be giving something“ back! I wouldn‘t be on youtube anymore without you, Mustie1, Diesel Creek and TPAI :)

I've said for ages that I'd cheerfully pay to watch your content, I'm glad to have the opportunity to put my money where my mouth is.
As far as content is concerned, I don't think you should change a thing. There are any number of contrived for YouTube, instant gratification shows, your videos are so much better for being genuine, long form and showing the process.
Lastly, the thing that sets your videos apart from most on YouTube is you and your character. I've always felt that, much like Eric O at South Main Auto, the guy I see on YouTube is the same guy I'd see if I walked into your shop. As others have said already, you should make what you want and what makes you happy because that shines through in your work.
Keep up the good work and I hope this endeavour helps to bring some balance to the work/life equation.

Weekends wouldn't be the same without WWW. As for releasing videos early to patreons, I patronise a few other channels that do this and it just makes my life complicated: when something comes up on youtube normally, I have to try and remember if I've seen it before on patreon.

2023-05-29 15:16:52 +0000 UTC
One more thing: At least for me / my opinion don't stress on doing anything "extra" for patreons. Been here for years, joined a "benefit tier" once for some "consulting", guy was just too busy to be of any help.

Don’t stress about the content. It’s great the way it is. $5 bucks a month? Shoot, that’s the least I can do from all the knowledge I’ve gained from watching your channel. Not to mention my tools. My tool quality and quantity has risen from your recommendations.

Hi from North Yorkshire in England. I think for the amount of content and variety you have put out over the years this is a bargain. Keep putting out the videos Wes. Now your floor is fixed get the other lifts put up and maybe employ somebody to do the run of the mill repairs and you do stuff that interests you.

... and I guess the patreon situation is one of these: "shut up and take my money" kind of problems. My suggestion would be: Build a second bay, get somebody in for the boring work (if there's enough coming in), film what you like how long you like and if it stops being fun just go back to your thriving business.

These wild changes in topic are what I love, because it's how I roll as well. I ran into sewing because of boating and it was a similar experience: Bought a broken machine because it was cheaper, fixed it, learned setting it up and doing some basic sewing, ended up hand stitching the project with a speedy stitcher instead bc reasons...

I’ve always greatly enjoyed your content; the technical aspects and your good humor, irrespective of circumstance, are wonderful - Max’s relentless rodent eradication efforts don’t hurt either. This said, the “tyranny of YouTube”, with the accompanying demands for quality content at regular intervals has to be challenging. Your addition of Patreon is only fair, and worth more than your humble initial ask. From one sometime farmer-mechanic to another, thank you !

g'day from Australia! I've been to watching your videos for a long time and they've been an invaluable resource for my surprise career of repairing and maintaining equipment at a sawmill. I could point to countless videos I've referenced in my job, like your unicorn p-pump Cummins series, helping me replace a fuel pump on our wheel loader, or your work with heiu engines informing my own diagnosis of some of our own, but really with every video there's something to learn, and a lot of fun to be had. Keep up the amazing work! 🧡

Greetings from Germany =) I enjoy basically all your content. Calm, in depth, subtle (sometimes dark) humor, technically top notch when it’s about machines and vehicles of some kind. For me everything could stay as it is, wouldn’t mind more videos though. I would love to see some new merch too ;) Been asked about the Max F-150-Shirt quite often.

Between you, Diesel Creek, and Salvage Workshop I seem to have found my niche. If you guys were on 24/7 I'd sit here and watch, so I guess it's a good thing you're not. But by all means, keep them coming. I enjoy the content, learn things I'd never get to see otherwise, and I appreciate your sense of humor. Thank you for your efforts.

Like several others, this is the first channel that's inspired me to actually sign up and support even though I've thought about it before on several of the ones I enjoy following. As for plans for the channel and the business... do what makes you the happiest and gets the bills paid. If you enjoy the mechanic work then we'll all be here enjoying what you're able to produce even if it's fewer and farther between while you put the business first. If the YouTube stuff is more enjoyable or more lucrative or a better fit for you and the family then by all means we'll enjoy the results. I enjoy every bit of the content... the machining, the concrete problem solving, the car repairs, especially the farm equipment repairs... every bit of it. If there was one skill you have that I wish I could learn better by watching and learning, it would be the computer diagnostics. I always watch close on the "runs rough and nobody can figure out why" type videos to see exactly what thought process you're using to set up the scan tool and which sensors you care about when and why. So if I had a vote on what kind of content I'd love to see more in depth, that would be it, but I enjoy everything you do and totally get that you don't have the time to "instruct" while you work any more than you already do.

Love your deduction. I always think its a little funny that everybody is so oblivious to electronics since i came to cars from the electronic side and not the classic car guy side but i still really enjoy the your hunts. i learn a lot from your videos. you pretty much cover it all since you last even did 3d printing. take my money wes! even if its german pesos.

Wow!! Thank you Wes for allowing us (me) to help out in this way.
Yes, I am in the group that wants more videos and here I am supporting you in the best way I can to make it happen.
As far as you making 'Better Videos'...you make amazing video already!!
While you may not always know it, but your videos inspire others.
My son, 25 years old, is a Master Technician at our local Jeep/Dodge/Chrysler dealer.
He is one of just a few (3 or 4?) at where he works that is 'certified' to work on commercial customer vehicles AND Cummins powered vehicles.
He tells me about some of the crazy diagnosis that he has performed.
When he has about pulled his hair out and is near his breaking point, he watches 'Wes Work' and is greatly encouraged and emboldened.
Thank you!
