It'll take a good few years to make it something genuinely useful rather than a toy or marketing vehicle. ChatGPT is not AI, it's a language model and as such is a useful tool with limitations as you described Wes.

2023-06-17 17:36:01 +0000 UTCCool video; nicely topical. Far too many unwilling to engage their own abilities to ratiocinate. So, a predictive text engine seems "smart." As to "google" searching, sadly, a person needs a plethora of other browsers, a number of ad filters, and aggressive cookie management to not get "filtered" results that omit things that might be significant for being non-obvious. "We" are the product, and dumping ads upon us, even at a 1:100,000 "hit rate" is enough to more than pay for the thing.

2023-06-17 16:57:22 +0000 UTCGreat video. A problem with this Patreon thing is that viewer comments get split between youtube and patreon. I'm thinking that the answer is for patrons to view the videos on youtube, and comment there rather than here. Although that makes it less of an exclusive club.

2023-06-17 14:02:11 +0000 UTCI've been working in IT for over 35 years now and lots of new tech has come and gone in that time. Some of it was great, some of it was garbage. AI is the first tech in all of that time that actually scares me. People are trampling all over each other to implement it while AI experts who have spent their entire careers working on this are pleading for people to stop. This isn't going to end well. As for the Internet in general not all of it is a dumpster fire...there are still plenty of options out there in terms of software, browser add-ons, privacy-respecting sites, etc. that you can use that eliminates 95% of the garbage.
