Saving an Abandoned Massey Ferguson Turf Tractor

The GoPro footage came out kind of grainy. Is it too distracting?

Short version...bank caved in...while I was on the seat digging forward and watching it go down!

Eddie Williamson

i have 2 Massey Fergeson tractors tea-24 a 1945 and 1954 model.

Steven Cox

Wow! There had to be a story there!

Back in the day I put thousands of hours on a MF135 with a 3 cylinder Perkins engine, pretty much the same running works with different sheet metal. Incredibly tough and reliable. Tillage work and spraying all day then powered a PTO irrigation pump at night. All mechanical, no goofy electronics to complicate things. Went fully submerged into a farm pond, hot engine and wide open throttle. Replaced one connecting rod, fluids and filters and it was good to go again.

Eddie Williamson

Biodiesel is the worst.

Watch Wes Work

It's crazy.

Watch Wes Work

Great. Music is so tricky. Some hate it, some love it, most don't even notice.

Watch Wes Work

Ooof!

We have an old Massey 20D with a loader and a blower that we use for snow removal, they're tough little tractors. Ours sounds identical to the one in the video, I assume it's the same machine with a different wheel setup. Ours needed an injection pump rebuild this past winter, turns out, when you don't change fuel filters for 20 years things start to gum up.

Nick Hough

That was great, loved the fault finding, amazed it moved itself after that length of time!

Colin McElduff

So old school. I've been around long enough ('60s) to know what was what. (I really enjoyed the intro sound track, too).

Michael S Wilhelm

Those Japanese tractors are indestructible.

Watch Wes Work

The video was fine. I like videos where you rescue abandoned machines and get them running again. I rescued a mid 70's Yanmar tractor a couple of years ago. Got it running and used it for cutting my yard. Had a blast doing it. Still need to do an in-frame rebuild on the engine though. If you were local, I'd have you do it.

Britt A Releford

Glad to throw some of my coffee money in the fund!

Darren B McLellan

Nice to see you return to your, will it run roots.

Bill Scott

Those were the days!

It's driving me crazy!

Superb videography / intro. Harkens back to “early Wes” rescuing dad’s treasures from the forest. Frankly made me a bit misty-eyed 🥹

James Riordan

Ours is a Klenatron BugBuster, but I don't think that they are made anymore. You'll enjoy listening to the flies fry, especially if they are big and juicy!

Sue Rollinson

You can see a difference from the normal videos but its still pretty good and fine to watch. Nothing to complain about.

thedeafguitarist

looks fine to me on my computer. great to see you working with your dad

David Baldwin

I love my father but would hit the wall fast when I would ask for a Phillips and he would say, "Thats the star, right?"

Nick Vogel

Looks good to me! I enjoy watching you work with your dad. I used to do lots of projects with him before I moved to Texas.

Jeff Chandler

Such a great video! Love the interaction between you & your dad.

Bill

The video was a bit pixelated but perfectly watchable for me. I'm no expert on diesels but I know enough to be able to follow along without a detailed conversation. For me the most important thing is that I got to come along for the ride, which is really all I want.

David Yates

Good for him!

Watch Wes Work

He said it's now leaking oil from every orifice. Some buyers remorse is to be expected!

Watch Wes Work

LOL

Eric Corse

I need one. They are diabolical.

Watch Wes Work

And my mom is worse!

Watch Wes Work

There you go!

Watch Wes Work

OK great!

Watch Wes Work

I think the answer is yes.

Watch Wes Work

Does your dad buy this older stuff to fix and resell or is he like the rest of us and just like to have it.

Eric Corse

Looks perfectly fine on my screen 👍🏻. Great video as always.

Max Chaplin

Glad we can support your efforts. Awesome your dad is still active and you can hang out and help him. My Grandfather died at 96 but at 93 he was on a ladder pulling siding off of an old shed to help us tear it down. Great times!

James Underwood

I think it's awesome that you get to work with your dad like that...not everybody gets to. As for the video I'm sitting here watching it on my 13" laptop and honestly totally forgot you had mentioned it was grainy so it's just fine by me

Chris Freemesser

Great stuff. It always gets confusing when three people are talking. I wonder if radio lapel mikes for you and your Dad would help.

Peter Facey

No issues here full screen on my ipad, nice work!

mike forbes

Looks okay to me. No problem following along with the steps.

George Glass

That tractor brings back some memories. If mostly crass ones about kinfolk scoffing at "hobby farm" or "golf course" tractors. Definitely cool to see it run, even over the range of cameras used. Most decidedly one of those, "oh, it's an easy fix, just remove the entire fuels system and overhaul same." Which will likely be an archeological dig of sorts, finding all the "band aid" solutions applied in the tractor's beforetimes.

CapnMac82

The video quality is fine. We have a biblical plague of flies too. My husband rigged up the Bug Zapper (40 years old), and it made short work of all of the flies.

Sue Rollinson

I can't see a difference on my phone. I grew up watching vcr tapes, so it's still better than that.

Brian VanDragt

Interesting video Wes, thanks!

Graeme Zimmer

Looks good to me

Andy Francis

I hope your Dad lives a very long life, or you have a lot of siblings because I can imagine disposing of his collection may take some time. Nice video!

Tom Hollowell

My son and I watch your videos, and I was just thinking “it would be cool to see Wes do a Diesel Creek style rescue” and lo and behold this pops up! Video looks great, I think some difference in quality is expected when you are working in the field vs your usual film studio. My boy seemed like he enjoyed it! I definitely did. Thanks man!

Dale Tractor

Yeah, it's grainy on my computer monitor & TV, not as noticeable on my phone

Ron Wedel

Yeah, I think your dad should bring his own ether next time, he's harder on that stuff than them boys from Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas... The footage is enjoyable on a small screen, I guess some snarky disclaimer is called for, like "just crappy enough to watch it on the crapper" or something...

Anditainment

No worries on the quality...didn't notice

Michael Stern

No video issues for me. Great recovery!!! That thing's cherry!

Doug Wray

You can watch it just fine

Jason griggs

You can see its grainy but its fine to watch. Not distracting.

Darran

cool, new video !!!!

Jeferson Luis Fischer

Wes the video looks just fine. No worries. I enjoy the videos of older equipment that has been sitting for years and the process of getting it to run again. 👍
