Suck it Bucket

Just a quick tip video I thought you guys might like. I'm working to finish the clutch  pack replacement on the Massey Backhoe, but it's dragging on too long.

NoI need to change the oil in my international dt466e. I can crawl underneath there and undo the oil drain but I have oil shooting all over and it's going to come out there fast. I think this would work better I'm not in a hurry to suck it out. But it's around 7 or 8 gallons of oil and I know I'd spill some switching 5 gallon buckets.

Nah, Shlomi! aka Vince Offer. He did slap chop and who knows what else. Check this out, its pretty epic. https://youtu.be/UxGn2Egekic?t=33 "You're gunna love my nuts"

Billy Mays? Didn't he die?

Oh man, the Shamwow guy needs to pitch this.

As long as we don't have a catastrophic implosion...

Used to be common to see "mechanics" leaning over open carburetor bowls with lit cigarettes. Self-preservation is not a naturally-occurring human reflex.

Fun with fluid dynamics!

Dave Barry has a whole article about a vacuum blowing up festival. Gasoline is the secret.

I don't think you would have an issue with anything flying across, but you can stagger the big or small hose heights if you like.

Be careful with the search terms...

The Flex Seal guy would have a field day with the Suckit Buckit 😂 PS - Someone really ran gasoline through a shop vac ???

James Riordan

I’m guessing you want to shove the hose sucking the (insert item here) down so that it’s closer to the bottom of the bucket to avoid inadvertently having whatever drips out of the little hose immediately fly across the bucket and get sucked into the shopvac? Or do you have another solution for that?

How fitting..... using a "suck it bucket" on a Chrysler Penta-Leak. Those things are going to be the Driptroit Diesels of our age.

Casey Hill

Hell, if you have a broken vacuum cleaner, just take the attachment, stick it in place of that hose and you can likely wet/dry clean most things without needing to buy a wet/dry carpet cleaner. That is nifty not just for sucking up oil in the intake valley. You could hose down the engine and go over it with a decent vacuum attachment/brush to clean it and dry it off quicker or even spiff up an interior without paying $80-200 for another vacuum.

Do you have an Amazon link :-)

That is a good option though!

You don't like choking on fuel?

Watch Wes Work

If you used it for dust, I suggest not mixing the buckets...

Nice one! Better than tossing the whole junky Fiat in the other, rhyming, bucket.

That's exactly the system I use to start the siphon when I empty out fuel tanks. Edit: Diesel fuel tanks**

Now that is genius! I am going to make one up today. Thanks for the tip Wes. Cheers 🍺

Nice, similar ideas are used for both drywall and woodshop dust collection.
