2023-08-13 22:07:31 +0000 UTCMy wife and I have a 1982 c10 with a 6.2 in pretty normal square body condition, but low miles. It has for sure a bad ring and pinion as well as axle seals. We are fairly local to you, do we bring it in to you for a repair, or if you saw this yellow rolling smoke machine would you tell us that you would rather do make up tutorials than work on our old garbage? I was going to hunt down a junkyard axle for it but haven’t had time, not sure which way to go. Yes you read that right it’s yellow.

I'm actually employed by a shop that works exclusively on EVs, and we've had vistiors come into our shop and do videos a few times, which it seems people always find fascinating. We've put out some occasional videos of our own, but never anything consistent. I'm planning on moving and starting my own shop within the next 6mo, and have always liked making videos and wanted to spend a bit more time doing it.

2023-08-10 14:47:07 +0000 UTCAs someone who works in a shop that works exclusively on EVs, I'm interested to hear Wes's answer to this as well. Personally, I don't think it will kill small shops, but I definitely don't think that all shops will survive, as there's a lot less "regular maintenance" to perform on EVs. That said, all electro-mechanical devices break and need repairs eventually, and some are more reliable than others... It will likely be a long time until there are few enough gas cars on the road to sustain "regular" auto repair shops.

Here I am spending $5 a month to a single “streaming service” who maybe puts out 4 episodes a month if I am lucky but the content is so enjoyable to me I am happy to do it. Thanks Wes! Ps I refuse to pay for hulu or netflix which has hundreds of episodes a week of overproduced garbage. Youtube is the best content

It had been serviced by a Lexus dealership according to the manufacturer recommended service items. I retired from the Marine Corp moved to NH and there is not a dealership near me. There is a Toyota dealership . I wanted to have my transmission serviced. Fluid and filter changed as well as all the transfer fluid. My local mechanics here won’t do it. They say if I do the above service it could cause problems???? My question is that true????? Again thanks so much for your informative and at times humorous videos. Semper Fi 🇺🇸

I work as a flat rate tech at a dealership, but I am interested in possibly moving on to something different. What would you recommend someone who has experience in automotive work that wants to expand their horizons? Run headfirst into diesel tech school? I’m interested in finding out how you got to be where you are today. ps- I absolutely love all the content you put out, it may be a bit dry, but I have had a couple of times at work where I’ve been able to fix cars because of knowledge I picked up from your videos. Any thoughts on what you would do differently or suggest someone else does differently based on your experiences with youtube (video content in general, unless you have a platform-specific answer)? How has your youtube involvement nowadays matched your expectations going in? Jobs come in varying degrees of satisfaction and fulfilment, if we are getting enough of that to keep a smile on the dial life is pretty good. No job a walk in the park unless you're a dog walker.
