It's always a shame to be the bearer of bad news, but I firmly believe you're doing the right thing Wes. The owner of that rusted out pickup can find someone else to weld it up, and if they do then it's on their conscience.

Thanks for that tip on the accord door handle, never noticed it and now I also cannot unsee! I agree with your sentiment at the end of the video, not worth the liability working on compromised truck frames.

2023-12-17 18:23:09 +0000 UTCThe situation of cars being suitable for large metro areas just not being suitable for rural areas is already rife. It's getting worse of late. Sad things to see like Blue DEF for sale in grocery stores--which makes a person wonder if the diesel owner _actually_ know they need DEF. The number of "convenience features" on modern autos wants more, not less, diligence by owners. But, I'm not sure they know this.

I'm not sure what the used car market is like in your neck of the woods but around here it's rough for people who don't have very much income. An old clapped Honda civic with rusted out wheel wells goes for $3,000 in my area, I saw a 97 Toyota Tercel the other day for $5,500 and it sold pretty quickly, crazy.

2023-12-17 16:38:37 +0000 UTCCheers to the teachers! Wife teaches first grade. From what i remember Honda had official bulletin on these v6s to re-ring the rear bank. Glad their other engines didn't suffer similar fates over the years, I like my wife's econo box 9th civic. First vehicle I've owned that was new enough where I could actually prevent rust and maint issues. Not inherit them indefinitely. Good stuff as always. The Midwest needs an emotional support hotline for owners of rusted out vehicles, the volume is staggering lately.

The DOT sprays the roads with brine maybe once or twice a year. If I have to drive on it, I'm at the underbody car wash as soon as it dries.
