Added 2022-05-13 18:25:22 +0000 UTCWeekly VTuber News:
(May 8-13, 2022)
> Chinese bots flood the Hololive Golden Week game stream, with even Subaru accidentally setting her livechat sub mode to 44 years. Memes ensue.
> Ninomae Ina'nis' original song, Violet, has reached 3M views.
> Pomu and Vox Cookie Run Kingdom Sponsorship
> Hololive has put out a job offer for Spanish translators in their office, indicating that they are interested to push
to the Spanish-speaking community.
> Ollie is back after her 1 week break.
> Calli cries on stream (good reasons tho dont worry. A game just made her emotional/nostalgic)
> Calli announces a new song coming.
> Pomu and Touhou: Lost World sponsorship.
> Qilou Qilou of VirtuaReal (Chinese Nijisanji branch basically) has died due to 'health reasons'. Management contacted her multiple times after several days but with no connection. The police was alerted, and uhh yeah. Confirmed that she died.
Her family is yet to be contacted. In fact, his family didn't fucking know, it seemed like. Massive oof.
> Mika Melatika has been terminated from YouTube after sexual bots have brigaded her chat, causing her to be mass reported and removed off platform.
She turned to Twitch to address the situation. Kobo Kanaeru also got fucked. I worry that Chinese spammers will actually try and use this surprisingly... effective way to harrass talents. The issue has spread to other Japanese VTubers too. Indies, other Nijisanji members are affected. Lots of speculations-- a bug caused by YouTube's experimental 'raid' feature, causing unwanted bots from other livestreams to pool into them. The Chinese spammers are now being blamed too (for obvious reasons). Cover and Nijisanji has then announced a Sub-Only mode to their livestreamers to prevent this from happening.
> Update to Drama Above: It's fading. Mika and Kobo has gotten their channel back.
> Lisa from Tsunderia has lost her YouTube partner program. She reappealed today, and still got rejected. However, due to the fan response and YouTube Twitter being a reluctantly helpful guy, she got in.
> Melody and Finana collabs
> Nina Kosaka is in Australia. Off collabs with Sonny, Luca, and Ban Hada.
> Petra Gurin to reach 300k subs.
> Vox Akuma has reached 700k subs.
> Yugo Asuma reached 200k subs.
> Hoshimachi Suisei takes a break for 1 month due to throat and health issues.
> Kson announces that she will stop being on Mildom. Her membership there will stop, and the videos will be gone. Archives will still be there, but she's not going back even if YouTube or Twitch fucks her up. Mildom is a Chinese website, but the reason isn't actually because she was kicked out. In fact, Mildom was actually helpful in helping her moderate her chat during the peak of the harrassment campaign. She voluntarily wanted to stop since spammers weren't really an issue anymore, the fact that she barely gets any views there, the terrible UI and stream quality, and a few more things. Since she's also branching out to Twitch, she didn't want to stretch herself too thin.
> Shu Yamino returns from his break.
> Nijisanji's Lazulight 1st Anniversary. Merch announced.
> Nyanners reaches 800k followers on Twitch.
> Mysta Rias reaches 600k Twitter followers.
> Irys receives the YouTube Artist Mark.
> Kobo Kanaeru reaches 500k YouTube subs.
> Cimrai gets a MULTITUDE of fucking drama. Melts down on Twitter.
> A-Soul the Chinese VTuber group that replaced Hololive in the Chinese Market when Hololive got kicked out has come underfire.
A-Soul is the most popular VTuber group in the sphere, but it was found out that the agency gives their talents jackshit while the higherups and management gets the vast majority of the earnings.
A measly 10 CENTS per 20 Dollars of membership/subscriptions... fucking peanuts for their salary. So yeah. This leak came from the fact that one of the members, Carol, went on an indefinite hiatus due to health issues, but then started ranting on her private account that she was apparently bullied in the company and got jackshit of the money she earns. A-Soul's parent company is ByteDance, the owner of TikTok, and people have been demanding that the company be transparent about the talent's earnings. They tried to address the drama, but the address didn't go so smoothly. Fans were still thinking that they were forced to say the things they were saying to avoid trouble with the company/contract obligations.
